朗·普尔曼是一位受过传统演艺训练的美国演员，他与妻子Opal及两个孩子Blake和Brandon生活在洛杉矶。他出生于美国纽约曼哈顿的华盛顿高地，他的母亲Dorothy是一位退休的市政府秘书，至今仍然生活在那里。他去世的父亲是一名修理工，还是著名爵士音乐人亚提·萧(Artie Shaw)的乐手。
